Description

Are you passionate about using science to solve complex problems at scale? The Books team is looking for a Senior Product Manager-Tech to drive strategy and roadmap leveraging ML models to improve author and reader experience. In this role, you will be responsible for setting direction, influencing priorities and delivering products from concept to execution. You will work cross-functionally with partners across books teams including scientists, business intelligence, engineering, policy and product. Your work will have a tangible impact on our external and internal customers. The successful candidate has a deep understanding of how to develop, apply and evolve science models to solve problems on behalf of authors and readers. They are not constrained by what exists today and must have proven experience driving strategic vision, working across leadership teams to influence direction, delivering and balancing multiple projects while staying connected to the details and ruthlessly prioritizing the most impactful work.

Key job responsibilities

• Owning the vision for a suite of ML-driven products including managing communication and driving decisions across stakeholders, Sr. leadership, policy, science and engineering.

• Working backwards from customer problems, data, anecdotes and research to define direction, and set priority.

• Working to own the lifecycle of products from requirements definition through integration, launch, and post-launch analysis.

• Delivering high-impact products both through the books team and partner teams while identifying the key dependencies, tradeoffs and prioritization calls that balance delivery against costs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

  • Experience managing technical products or online services

  • Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning

  • Experience developing and delivering an ML-driven roadmap.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in using analytical tools, such as Tableau, Qlikview, QuickSight

  • Experience in building and driving adoption of new tools

  • MBA

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative/technical field such as computer science, engineering, statistics

  • Experience with SQL

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
