Senior Director - Product Engineering As part of a dedicated, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will help launch vehicle and spacecraft programs at Blue Origin conduct efficient product engineering and development by leveraging your team of subject matter experts to establish company-wide best practices, development & configuration strategies, optimized engineering toolsets and engineering education. The Product Engineering team is the company resource and source of truth for effective systems engineering, cost engineering, design for manufacturability and assembly, engineering design tools that enhance our productivity, and configuration management of our technical data packages. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight, while significantly lowering the cost of access to space. Responsibilities: Establish company-wide development, test and manufacturing approaches for launch vehicles, spacecraft, and ground support equipment based on your knowledge of industry standards and techniques. Work with program Chief Engineers and Program Managers to ensure product development engineering methods are appropriate. Assemble a team of subject matter experts and leverage your team to ensure that Blue Origin programs have the expertise to execute development activities leading to manufacturable and affordable designs. Establish and continuously improve company methods for developing designs that achieve cost and performance objectives. Partner with Enterprise Technology and work across all Business Units to roadmap and introduce model-based design approaches and associated toolsets. Ensure engineers are equipped and trained with the necessary toolsets to produce industry-leading designs optimized for cost, manufacturability and reliability. Develop and implement company-wide training curricula on engineering development topics such as design for manufacturability and assembly, configuration management, systems engineering, cost engineering. Maintain and report on Business Unit interaction and support provided. Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Systems or Aerospace Engineering 15+ years of experience in aerospace development programs and aerospace manufacturing engineering Experience with Blue manufacturing operations and programs Demonstrated leadership experience and successes with moderate to large teams. Experience in application of Systems Engineering across the development and production lifecycle. Demonstrated experience establishing engineering development workflows for aerospace teams. High-judgment; ability to generate innovative solutions and understand the balance between engineering judgment versus analysis rigor and when each is appropriate. Demonstrated ability to productively operate with engineering teams and drive decision making within those teams Knowledge of manufacturing methods, material selection, testing, characterization & allowables development Working knowledge of systems & engineering design toolsets (e.g., SysML tools and 3D CAD programs such Creo Pro/E) Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
