Amazon Risk Manager, Investigations, Private Brands Product Safety and Compliance in Seattle, Washington

Description

The Private Brands Product Safety and Compliance Team is seeking a Risk Manager, Product Safety Investigations. The Risk Manager will manage a program which ensures the safety and compliance of Amazon’s product selection worldwide, to drive a positive customer experience.

The Risk Manager partners and consults with business, legal, technical teams, customer service, and other internal/external teams to manage end-to-end escalations as a result of product testing detected through our audit programs. You will collaborate with members of the Post Launch Activities Team, who audit Private Brand selection, to deliver a consistent policy framework for systematic remediation of defects. You will work as an individual contributor in a team environment, collaborating remotely with team members in other Amazon locations.

The Risk Manager will apply process improvement and risk-mitigation methodologies to improve controls, project, and process efficiency, optimize cross-team processes that improve team efficacy and delivery. To guarantee successful delivery of projects you will gather the necessary metrics to identify and address trends, initiate and oversee escalations and report results.

Key job responsibilities

• Partner with Private Brand and Global Product Compliance Teams to facilitate product safety investigations and downstream escalations, analyze and identify root cause and ensure that effective controls are developed and maintained across the organization.

• Build and maintain escalation processes for interactions between Amazon and compliance organizations, business partners, vendors/manufacturers and 3rd party service providers.

• Make appropriate trade-offs to manage risk, and clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to scope and deliver complex solutions.

• Ensure professional practice standards are met by working with others to enhance operational procedures, systems, and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes and enhanced management reporting

• Determine the correct stakeholders to inform decisions. Design the workforce strategy to meet long-term process targets. Lead with limited guidance.

• Develop strong relationships with PBPSC and internal and external business team stakeholders to proactively anticipate customer needs, investigate underlying issues and create short and long-term solutions.

• Promote a culture of compliance, proactively engaging with retail business teams to understand business objectives and communicate reasonable deliverables.

A day in the life

Risk Managers, manage challenging risk programs where solutions are not defined. Risk Managers work cross-functionally to assess and manage risks, measure and report on progress, anticipate and resolve bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs with the technical constraints. The Risk Manager drives teams to adopt and maintain risk-reducing controls with data-driven documentation. This role is key to enabling compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory requirements for the Private Brands Business.

About the team

The Private Brand Product Safety and Compliance (PBPSC) team enables compliance and ensures the safety of Amazon’s Private Brand products globally. This begins upstream, where our Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) advise on product-level requirements and impact of new regulations by defining testing protocols for our Private Brand businesses. Midstream, our program enablement team utilizes tools from the technology ecosystem to build processes that enable new product launches and market expansion. To measure our effectiveness, our downstream “post-launch” teams conduct independent audits of product compliance (Surveillance) and monitor and investigate reported customer concerns (Product Safety Investigations).

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Experience handling confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience

  • Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials

  • Experience with SQL and Excel

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
