Blue Origin LLC Radar Navigation Systems Engineer in Seattle, Washington

This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. This position reports to the Navigation and Sensors Group in Blue Origin's Lunar Permanence business unit. As part of a hardworking team of diverse spacecraft development engineers, you will assist in the procurement, development, analysis, test, and verification, of the navigation radar sensors on a variety of spacecraft and missions. You will participate in the full design life cycle of navigation radar sensor including design, development, analysis, testing, verification/validation, and flight. You will work closely with the guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C) team to seamlessly integrate the radar navigation system components with the rest of the GN&C. Your contributions will enable flight of state-of-the-art aerospace vehicles and missions. Responsibilities: Collaborate in the development of navigation and sensor hardware requirements from system level specifications with flow downs to subsystem and component levels, and companion verification methods Assist in the design of the radar navigation architecture, hardware configuration with design studies, and execute sensor performance trades Contribute to procurement, vendor coordination, delivery, acceptance, installation, verification, validation, qualification, and certification of the component hardware Perform and guide testing and analyses such as flight test, thermal vacuum test, vibration test, etc. to validate top-level system specifications and requirements, and to establish performance specifications of the sensors Support the development and execution of component-level navigation test programs, including sensor characterization, sensor modeling, and integrated on-vehicle testing Support hardware-in-the-loop testing, on-vehicle functional testing, and flight testing Support the GN&C subsystem technical lead with a cross-functional mindset to facilitate subsystem and system level architectural decisions Qualifications: B.S. in aerospace engineering or related technical disciplinewith 5+ years of relevant experience Experience in development of spacecraft navigation systemsor spacecraft avionics systems Experience withradar electronics, antenna, and front end for deorbit, descent, and landing operations Working knowledge of frequency modulated continuous wave and pulsed Doppler radar Experience in sensor procurement, integration, andtestsupport Experience with radio frequency (L, S, X, K band) navigation sensors and testing environments Demonstrated experience in verification and test of navigation systems Experience in MATLAB/Simulink Desired: M.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace engineeringor equivalentwith 10+ years of relevant experience Demonstrated knowledge and experience with navigation systems that include measurements fromIMU, GPS,radar,star trackers,and optical sensors Experience in synthetic aperture radar design and implementation Experience with high altitude and weak signal GPS Experience with software defined radio Detailed knowledge on EEE part selec
