Kelly Services QA Lab Technician in Seattle, Washington

Kelly is hiring a QA Lab Technician for one of our food manufacturing clients in Seattle, WA

  • Long Term Temp (2+ months)

  • 3rd shift working M-F 9:00pm - 6:30am

  • Pay $24.00-$27.00/hr DOE + $1.00/hr 3rd shift differential

Reason for the opening. Backfill someone leaving and also another employee will be going on paternity leave.

Expect this to last at least a couple months. No guarantee of perm but something they can evaluate towards the end of the contract.

Expect to work 9 hour shifts M-F (45 hours a week)

Onsite they do work with Tree nuts and Dairy. If you have an allergy please let us know

This site makes Beverage Syrups and Sauces

Lots of walking, time on feet, working between the production lines and the quality lab

Doing line audits, case audits, bulk receiving, miscellaneous lab tasks, finished product testing (pH, Brix, water activity)

Technology is easy and trainable.

Qualifications

Prefer a recent graduate (Any Science degree is fine but prefer Microbiology or Food Science)

If you don’t have degree then need quality or lab experience (any industry is fine)

Need to be computer savvy (working on computer and Ipad tablets majority of the time)

Reporting Structure:

This position may report to Quality Assurance Supervisor or the Quality Manger and directly performs quality tests as assigned. Individual may be assigned to a laboratory role or may be assigned to a general plant Quality role.

Primary Purpose:

To be responsible for conducting line Audits and Case inspections out on the production lines in a timely manner. In addition, to complete Finished product testing and other assigned responsibilities as dictated.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

• Conduct line Audits, case and other quality inspections

• Finished product testing:

o Timely sampling testing and reporting of results

o In-line inspections

o In-line product dispositions

o Sample retention

o Investigate causes of out-of-specification material

o Enter results into SAP program

• Product QA Holds/QA Releases

• HACCP & HACQP checks

• Documentation, record keeping and file maintenance

• Equipment standardization, calibration, maintenance and record keeping

• Laboratory inventory and general supply ordering

• Pre-shipment samples: packaging and prepardness

• Compile product, package, and ingredient data as required.

• Sensory evaluation of ingredients and finished products as necessary

• Perform misc. tasks as required.

Minimum Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• College diploma or 2 years experience in manufacturing

• Ability to read, understand and follow laboratory, sensory, and physical testing protocols and methods.

• Ability to use and maintain lab equipment

• Ability to use computer hardware and software

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP.

• Ability to handle high speed jobs and work under time pressures.

• Ability to communicate and enforce GMPs and Food Safety/Quality processes.

• Ability to work overtime and on weekends.

The employee must do visual quality checks of product and be able to locate products in warehouse, production and storage environments.
