What We Do

Max is the “One to Watch” Streaming App from Warner Bros Discovery featuring the largest and the critically acclaimed catalog from brands like HBO, CNN, Discovery, A24, Food Network and many more. At Max, the Growth Engineering team comprises ML engineers, data scientists, and software engineers. Our goal is to boost engagement and grow the number of active subscribers. We work across all customer interactions to develop data products that enhance the customer experience and optimize for retention and lifetime value.

What You’ll Do

  • You will be a key influencer the Growth ML & Data Science strategy and contribute significantly to both tactical and strategic planning.

  • You will own stakeholder relationships and meetings with leads in Marketing, Content Strategy & Finance

  • Research and build high-impact end-to-end machine learning systems for customer growth

  • Drive the design of scalable ML solutions in production

  • Coordinate the work of applied scientists and machine learning engineers providing research guidance and mentorship

  • Promote and role-model best practices of data science, engineering, and communication throughout the organization

  • Mentor engineers and data scientists across the org

  • Navigate existing ML and AI research and apply it to solve business problems

  • Contribute back to research community by writing/publishing blogs, articles or papers in conferences

What You’ll Need

  • Ph.D or M.S. in Computer Science/Statistics/Data Science or related field

  • 10+ years of building products with Machine Learning and Personalization

  • Deep understanding of statistics and ML and AI fundamentals

  • Deep knowledge in multiple ML methodologies, such as LLMs, Foundation Models, Recommendations & Search, Causal Machine Learning, Interpretable ML, Multi-Armed Bandits, Reinforcement Learning and Constrained Optimization

  • Expert proficiency with ML-frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, Scikit-learn etc.

  • Production experience implementing, maintaining, and improving machine learning pipelines and models at scale in Python, Java, Scala, or similar languages

  • Proven leadership skills, such as aligning complex technical decisions across teams, mentoring, coordinating cross-functional relationships with non-technical stakeholders, managing expectations, and navigating competing priorities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively advocate technical solutions to scientists, engineers, and product audiences

  • Self-motivated, growth-oriented, and driven to pursue excellence across teams

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $145,250.00 - $269,750.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
