As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts,you will set the technical bar and grow the Model Based Development (MBD) capabilities for the BE-3U rocket engine.You will be involved in all aspects of the planning, design, build and test activities for complex Liquid Propellant Rocket Engine model-based control software. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Responsibilities: As an Engine Model Based Control Software Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of the model-based development process from requirements development and allocation to the delivery of fully qualified control software to the avionics software team. You will participate in detailed engine control software design and modeling activities for new rocket engines and/or upgrades to existing rocket engines. You will contribute to modeling improvements, establish processes, and define best practices for engine control software and ensure that the developed model is bug-free and adheres to model guidelines. Your responsibilities will include interfacing tasks with teams responsible for engine avionics software development and verification. You will also support the delivery of engine control software models to customers, communicate verification results to internal teams as well as external customers and share/document lessons learned. Qualifications: Passion for Blue Origin's mission: Millions of people living and working in space! Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering discipline (aerospace, mechanical, electrical or physics desired) 0-2 years of experience in Model Based development activities, including model development, debugging, and auto-code generation using Matlab and Simulink Familiarity with thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer and control systems principles Entry level proficiency in programming and knowledge of at least one programming/scripting language (MATLAB/C/C++/Python etc.) Basic understanding of MIL, SIL, PIL simulation Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum Desired: Familiarity with liquid rocket engine control system or equivalently complex automotive or aviation control systems Experience with Confluence and/or Jira Experience with version control software tools (preferably Gitlab) Experience with requirements management tools (preferably Jama) Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $93,870-$131,418 Other site ranges may differ Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
