The mission of Identity team is to - Enable Lyft to provide the world's best transportation experience by knowing our customers and creating safe, secure, personalized and seamless portable access . Our work touches every user that signs up, logs in and uses our platform, across over two million rides a day. Our team’s scope encompasses all three types of Lyft customers - riders, drivers and enterprise partners, and includes impactful objectives such as:

  • Accounts & Authentication Ensure the security, reliability and compliance of user information including appropriate access to Lyft services based on various factors

  • Identity Verification Collect and validate the user profile information to support access, personalization and delivery of Lyft services.

  • Enabling Partnerships Enable the accurate exchange of identity, without revealing PII information to ecosystem partners and participants.

This is a full-stack team that owns the core Identity platform, multiple critical Tier-0 services, integration with various external vendors, as well as consumer-facing Identity experiences. The breadth and depth of our team’s scope requires us to move quickly, but also balance that with scalable platform solutions that other engineering teams depend on.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of talented engineers who like to ship code and tackle hard engineering problems

  • Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of your team members. Help develop their careers, and assign them to projects tailored to their skill levels, personalities, work styles, and professional goals

  • Build teams that are collaborative, inclusive, and respectful of each other

  • Provide continuous feedback, address underperformance, and recognize the individual strengths and contributions of your team members.

  • Create plans for prioritizing technical and resourcing challenges in your organization

  • Maintain a balance between building sustainable, high-impact projects and shipping things quickly

  • Instill a spirit of continuous improvement in the team’s code, architecture, and processes

  • Work closely with the Lyft recruiting team to hire high potential candidates from diverse backgrounds

  • Build strong relationships with product, support and operations teams, to influence technical roadmaps

Experience:

  • You have 3+ years as an engineering manager and experience managing teams of 8+ engineers, coaching and developing staff and senior engineers

  • Experience with Identity or similar domains is a big plus

  • You have a technical background and are able to contribute to planning and design discussions

  • You are steadfastly focused on your customers, whether they are drivers, passengers, or other Lyft employees

  • You believe in building both teams and products that scale

  • You enjoy working in a collaborative environment, and you’re committed to driving projects to completion creatively

  • You can motivate and instill a strong sense of ownership in your team

  • You have experience guiding teams through planning, prioritization, and execution of work

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid

The expected base pay range for this position in Seattle is $158,240 - $197,800. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
