Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic collaborates with company and Production leadership to conduct basic to extensive maintenance and electrical repairs on food manufacturing machinery and equipment. This includes working on conveyors, packaging equipment, vacuum sealing equipment, production equipment, electrical controls systems, and other related plant systems. The role demands adherence to safety rules with a strong focus on food safety. Responsibilities also include understanding simple drawings and wiring diagrams, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment, analyzing control systems, performing preventive maintenance without supervision, training Operators on equipment, and utilizing root-cause analysis skills to investigate breakdowns and line stoppages. The Maintenance Mechanic will also communicate findings during routine inspections to team leaders and production associates and source parts and supplies as necessary.

  • Assists with training Operators on equipment.

  • Follows all safety policies and practices; proactively identifies safety hazards and risks.

  • Much of the work will be production-related in overseeing and repair.

  • Utilize root-cause analysis skills to investigate breakdown and line stoppages while collaborating with other departments. This includes but is not limited to: observing devises in operation to locate root cause of problem; dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts; examining parts to detect imperfections; adjustment of functional parts of devices and control instruments; repair and/or replacement of defective parts; testing of device to observe performance; and performing tests for electrical circuitry and mechanical systems; reconditioning and repairing machine tools.

  • Proficient in the operation of all plant equipment to better troubleshoot and maintain as required.

  • Communicate with team leaders and production associates regarding critical findings during routine inspections.

  • Identify and sources parts, supplies and repair items as necessary.
