Job Description Summary
The Senior Controls Engineer works as part of the Solar & Storage Solution Systems Engineering Team and will be responsible for and supporting the development of hardware and software solutions for new and existing inverter and BESS products and plant controls. This individual will work with an international team and be engaged in or supporting activities including hardware and software design, controls algorithm development, project execution, software validation, field implementation and maintenance of GE’s Solar and Storage Solutions Software Control Systems. This includes but it is not limited to AC system, DC system, Building, SCADA, and Plant level controls up to and including interfaces with the upper-level customer control systems.

Roles and Responsibilities
Lead the development of hardware and software design solutions and controls algorithms for new and existing products.
Support project specific software development, validation, and installation for all Solar and Storage Solutions Control Systems
Support the logical and systematic conversion of market, customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Conduct technical planning including tradeoff studies for sub-system CTQ flow down, system verification and validation plans, cost and risk management
Have close interaction with internal and external customers to drive requirements and customer satisfaction.
Drive performance and reliability enhancements back to the product
Participate actively in design, code reviews, testing and software valuation.
Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with customers with confidence and clarity.
Support problem identification and resolution of new and installed products.
Stay current with program level risks and develop mitigation strategies with PMs, PLL, management, Control Title Holders, Subject Mater Experts, etc.
Ensure team compliance with internal processes and documentation standards throughout program development.
Support development of technical content for complex customer proposals and provide insight into challenging product or system issues.
Help support and develop skill of less experienced engineers
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering / Science or in STEM from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 8 years of experience with developing software & controls with high-level software languages
Desired Characteristics
Strong knowledge of or familiarity with GE’s MarkVIe product family and of GE’s Cimplicity software (SCADA) , ToolBox ST & WorkStation ST.
Demonstrated implementation of controls or systems integration in products and field engineering experience
Knowledge of communication networks (NW switch, Router, Firewall, copper, FO) and their design, Software and Hardware.
Familiarity with standard industrial protocols such as OPC-UA, EGD, IEC and Modbus
Knowledge of power conversion systems and controls.
Demonstrated expertise in energy storage controls, validation and verification, formal methods, systems integration, advanced controls or related technologies.
Technical project leadership experience
Ability to summarize and communicate complex technical information.
Strong problem analysis and resolution skills
Curiosity, passion for excellence, drive to deliver on-time.
Can present technical plans in voice of customer.
Advanced Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
Experience working cross-functionally between Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Product Management, etc.
Self-start attitude is strongly requested.
