The team:

Scotiabank’s COAT (Contact Centre Operations & Automation Technology) Delivery Center - Agile, Automation & Assurance passionately serves and protects system reliability through innovative and collaborative services provided by the Agile, Automation and QA teams which enables cost savings and increases business value.

The role:

Reporting to the Senior Quality Assurance Manager, you will contribute to the overall success of the QA - COAT Delivery Center - Agility & Assurance team by ensuring specific individual goals, plans & initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. You will ensure all activities conducted are in compliant with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

  • You are keen to perform the following QA test activities for projects\releases during the Software Test Life Cycle (STLC):

  • Review project documentation (business requirements, technical design, flow diagrams etc..) and be able to provide risk analysis from a testing perspective. Attend work sessions, when required.

  • Provide QA test estimates (includes scope of testing required, work effort) based upon project documentation provided.

  • Ability to create test artifacts but not limited to test plans\test strategies, test scenarios, test cases, test conditions, test scripts based upon risk analysis to ensure optimal use of testing time while adhering to User Acceptance Testing (UAT) policies, standards, procedures, and best practices. Prepare other QA documentation for QA management review, approval and sign-off.

  • Perform test execution (functional, regression, integration, or any other type of test where applicable as project requires) of simple to complex UAT test cases, assess UAT test results and take appropriate action. Work closely with the development group to resolve defects; escalate issues to management when necessary; make recommendations to release the code to Production.

  • You are eager to transfer application and process expertise to more junior analysts within UAT; provide hands on training on systems, hardware, environment, product, standards, and methodology to test team members; coach, motivate and provide feedback on department and project objectives, conflict resolution, and team building to assigned staff.

  • You enjoy working with individual project teams, during the software development life cycle, to ensure business and technical requirements have been fulfilled; contribute recommendations and assessments to ongoing project reviews.

  • You are a strong believer of maintaining a thorough and current understanding of a broad range of assigned banking applications, UAT code configuration, system integration, environment resources and code delivery process; provide technical advice to development teams and external suppliers on integration of specific applications within the UAT environment.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • You have strong communication (verbal/written) skills, which would allow you to produce clear, concise & comprehensive test plans\strategies, plus test cases.

  • You have at least 3+ years of hands-on technical working experience as a QA Test Analyst with Interactive Voice Response (IVR) in a Call Centre setting.

  • You have at least 5+ years of hands-on technical working experience as a QA Test Analyst that’s performed manual testing (e.g., functional, regression, end to end, integration testing, etc).

  • You can demonstrate a strong technical knowledge of software QA methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall), tools (e.g., Atlassian’s Jira/Confluence) & QA processes during the STLC.

  • You possess knowledge of Agile and/or Scrum and/or Kanban processes.

  • You also have demonstrable, practical hands-on experience in using Atlassian’s Confluence and/or Jira and/or Xray Test Management for Jira.

  • You have demonstrated ability to resolve escalated issues effectively.

  • You can deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple competing priorities.

  • You are results focused innovator, passionate about the success of the team & a team player.

  • Experience with performance and/or security testing is an asset.

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, IT Business/Management, or in a related field.
