Kelly Services Plant EH&S Specialist in Scarborough, Ontario

Title: Plant EH&S Specialist with Dow West Hill site

Location: 2 Manse Road, Scarborough, ON M1E 3T9

Work Hours: Monday to Friday (Onsite)

Contract Duration: 12 months

Kelly Services is actively seeking a EH&S Specialist for a dynamic role at Dow West Hill site located in Scarborough, ON M1E 3T9.

Position Overview:

Leads Implementation of the EH&S management system including work processes, standards, and procedures to ensure regulatory and safety compliance, add value to meet site objectives, and maintain the license to operate. Requires conceptual knowledge of theories, techniques, and methodology within the analytical technology discipline.

Responsibilities / Duties

  • Provides EH&S support to a facility on site.

  • Permit(s) requirement analysis and compliance plans including documentation strategies and regulatory applicability assessments.

  • Facilitates/participates in EH&S incident investigations.

  • Performs data collection and reporting for environmental compliance data including emissions reporting.

  • Interprets and applies environmental regulations and safety standards.

  • Provides EH&S training development and delivery, EH&S auditing, EH&S management of change review, and delivery of EH&S programs.

  • Implements EH&S management systems in order to add value to the business, meet business objectives and maintain the license to operate.

  • Conducts EH&S culture diagnosis and gap closure.

  • Interfaces with regulatory authorities for inspections, inquiries, audits and permit negotiations.

  • Implements new or updated EH&S programs.

  • Provides EH&S expertise and input to the plants’ efforts for improving operating discipline and documentation. Serves as a reviewer for the plant MOC process.

  • Provides updates to environmental permits for their plants and implementation of the requirements management work process.

  • Provides EH&S expertise to define projects necessary for successful achievement of the corporate EH&S goals.

  • Streamlines EH&S work processes by developing/updating operating discipline and associated tools.

Education

A Bachelor degree, Technologist diploma, or Canadian Trade ticket and 3 or more years of industrial experience.

OR

A Bachelor degree or Technologist diploma in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

This role does require ability to be on-call for remote support after hours.

Skills

  • Competent with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc)

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

  • SharePoint experience preferred.

  • Science/industrial based knowledge preferred.

  • Self-directed

  • Organized with excellent communication abilities with all levels of an organization (trades, operators, leaders, etc)

  • Questioning attitude

  • Ownership mindset
