Job Description

Senior Civil Engineer – Ports + Marine

AECOM is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join an established Savannah, Georgia based team delivering a complex and continually evolving infrastructure program for the Georgia Ports Authority, one of the largest fastest growing ports in North America. The team also supports southeast federal, state, county, and municipal port and marine clients. The appropriately qualified applicant will have demonstrated experience in project management, design, and analysis for complex civil engineering and site development projects.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated success leading and designing civil engineering projects from concept through construction: feasibility, conceptual and fine grading, drainage for large flat sites, wet utilities, pump stations, erosion control, permitting, roadways, parking lots, building interface, etc. Includes estimating and determining feasibility based on analysis of maps/aerial photographs, soil composition, terrain, hydrology, geology, and environmental impact studies. This role requires understanding of how to formulate and manage the project life cycle. The successful candidate must have a passion for developing junior staff through mentoring. You will be joining a diverse team of professionals committed to delivering value for a dynamic client.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage all project phases including project administration, scheduling, cost control, client satisfaction, safety, and quality

  • Manages complex projects, self-perform elements of project planning and design, lead engineering teams and technicians to develop civil infrastructure design plans and site development projects in the state of Georgia, its municipalities, and surrounding region.

  • May supervise senior level engineers (all disciplines applicable)

  • Be Engineer of Record on civil engineering projects

  • Oversee the work of engineers and technicians to ensure quality design and analysis work consistent with current government policies and guidelines

  • Perform project scoping and budget development for civil engineering projects

  • Develops strong client relationships, both internal and external to the project team, and enhances project Performance

  • Participate in Client meetings and permit application meetings as part of design projects

  • Leading proposal preparation

  • Operates under direction of Senior Program Manager

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field

  • Eight (8) years of experience designing civil engineering projects and large site development projects

  • Georgia PE or ability to obtain through reciprocity in 12 months

  • Valid Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review

  • Current holder of, or have no restrictions to obtain, Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

Preferred:

  • Diversified experience with engineering principles and practices in broad areas related to stormwater, roadway geometric design, utilities, infrastructure, earthwork, and streetscape

  • Experience developing scope and establishing engineering budget and schedule

  • Experience managing multiple projects at various stages of development and production

  • Experience supervising and training entry-level engineers.

  • Experience with technical analysis software

  • Experience in communication skills; writing, verbal and presentations

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $95,000.00 - $165,000.00.
