Sarasota County Government Traffic Operations Business Professional – Public Works in Sarasota, Florida

Do you have experience in traffic operations and financial tracking? In this role, you'll assist in developing, requesting, and managing financial resources for the Traffic Operations department. Coordinate the stocking or removal of parts through the Central Warehouse and maintain an inventory of assets on hand.
Prepare PIK PAKs for contractors to obtain parts from the warehouse.
Coordinate with Supervisors, Traffic Engineering, Capital Projects, Land Development, or other Business Units on traffic-related installations, modifications, or removals.
Research and identify materials and budget needs for traffic-related items and coordinate to obtain necessary parts for maintenance.
Assist with the creation and modification of maintenance contracts/bids.
Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to maintain and track maintenance-related records for equipment and repair job histories, work activities, preventative maintenance schedules, facility logs, and material usage.
Assist with a variety of maintenance performance reports to optimize/prioritize resource allocation.
Provide oversight and data management services for traffic-related apparatus.
Assist with the development and management of the Traffic Operations Annual Budget.
Assist with administrative oversight into the inventory of all traffic system equipment and parts.
Assist with contract oversight for traffic equipment and parts apparatus, including Signals, Street Lighting, Signs, and Pavement Markings.
Obtain invoices/receipts and processes them for payment after ensuring services have been rendered.
Assist with research, preparation, and management of Purchase Orders (POs) for traffic-related repairs and purchases.
Review and make corrections as needed to all external and internal billing completed by Traffic Operations.
Obtain all documentation to complete Risk Management paperwork for reimbursement for items that were damaged.
Ensure that documentation in Cartegraph is accurate and communicates with Supervisors.
Utilize the P-card to make purchases for departmental needs and reconciles monthly expenses.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Parks and Recreation, Public Administration, Business, Finance, Planning, Industrial/Engineering Technology, or a related field -AND- Two (2) years of related work experience.
-OR- Six (6) years of professional experience may be substituted at management discretion.
Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of the Manual on Uniformed Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) standards related to traffic signals, street lighting, signs, and road markings.
The ability to complete the Florida Work Zone Safety within six months of employment.
The ability to complete the IMSA certification for Signal Technician I, Signs I & Road Marking I within one year of employment
About Everything Else
Starting Pay Range: $56,139.20 - $62,000.00/ annually , based on experience.
