The Associate System Verification Engineer will develop tools and processes necessary for preparation and execution of design verification. He or She will work closely with system engineering and quality engineering to develop and ensure the testability of requirements, while developing test methods that will holistically verify the safety and efficacy of the Johnson & Johnson Surgical Robotics platform. This is a hands-on engineering role which touches on various engineering disciplines required for formal testing of a complex surgical robotic system, including electrical, firmware, and software.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop tests, tools, and processes vital to preparation and execution of design verification.

  • Develop tests that holistically verify the safety and efficacy of the Johnson & Johnson Surgical Robotics system.

  • Work closely with engineers from all functional teams including R&D, systems architecture, and quality engineering to guide requirements and product development for testability.

  • Ensure produced test documentation is aligned with FDA design control processes (21CFR820.30) and IEC 62304.

  • Design and lead verification strategy and execution for a sub-system and system.

  • Work closely with system and quality engineering to ensure requirement testability.

  • Communicate plans to technical and non-technical leadership.

  • Develop test methods that accurately test requirements, including protocol development, fixture design, test validation, script development, analysis of data, and test report generation.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%, international and domestic.

Qualifications

Required:

  • B.S. in Engineering or other applicable technical degree.

  • At least a year of relevant work experience is required.

  • Knowledge across disciplines: electrical engineering, control systems, software engineering, embedded systems, software infrastructure development.

  • Understanding of engineering concepts such as system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.

  • Understanding of product life cycle of complex medical devices.

  • Technical writing and documentation practices.

  • Developing and executing test method validation and qualification.

  • Developing testing/analysis software scripts in Python, MATLAB, or other scripting languages.

  • Robotics or electro-mechanical.

  • Knowledge on Linux, Embedded software, ALM tools like JAMA, JIRA.

Preferred:

  • Written verification plans/protocols and executed formal testing in a regulated industry, medical device experience is preferred.

  • Experience in robotics and/or medical device industry.

Additional Information:

  • The anticipated pay range for this position is $70,000 to 112,700

  • This position is not eligible for overtime.

Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

  • Vacation - up to 120 hours per calendar year

  • Sick Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

  • Holiday Pay, including Floating Holidays - up to 13 days per calendar year

  • Work, Personal, and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
