Title: Registered Radiologic Technologist and Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Department: Diagnostic Imaging Status: 32 hour-- day shift hours/week
Hours: Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands; Must be able to work flexible hours; Low census may be utilized in accordance with hospital policy. Call time is required.
Qualifications/Position Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology and maintains ARRT registry.
- Registered Computerized Tomography Certification or equivalent, required within one year of hire
- One year experience as CT Technologist, preferred.
- Able to provide quality diagnostic services to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, while performing diagnostic imaging through patient education, appropriate skill, and knowledge
- Demonstrates ability to perform equipment manipulation and function for the purpose of producing quality diagnostic images
- Nuclear Medicine experience, preferred. Will be required to become nuclear medicine certified within six months.
- Physically capable of standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting up to 40 pounds
- Self-Motivated to learn additional diagnostic imaging modalities
- Self-Motivated and able to work afternoon shift, weekends, holidays
- Able to meet on-call requirements of 30 minute response time
- Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families, physicians, and all other hospital support personnel
- Ability to communicate in speech, writing, and reading of English language
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain composure during stressful times
Ability to handle various office equipment and radiological equipment
Role/Position Definition: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs all required diagnostic procedures for all patient populations with knowledge of all pertinent technical and academic areas to produce consistent high quality examinations. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. The Radiologic Technologist participates in cross training activities as necessary to function in multi-modality roles which includes General Radiography and Computerized Tomography and Nuclear Medicine. The technologist performs all duties to meet patient care needs within the scope of practice. Responsible for interacting with hospital staff and/or providers regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolutions. Responsible and accountable for maintaining performance skills. Participates in a rotation of working weekends, holidays, overtime, and in an on-call/call-back status. Frequent, daily contacts with patients and their families; Frequent contact with other hospital employees, and physicians.
