Description
Amanda Howell with Robert Half is in search of a meticulous and dedicated Assistant Controller to join our clients team in San Rafael, California. This role involves managing financial operations within the real estate industry, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and assisting with financial management activities.
Responsibilities:
• Perform financial analysis and reporting for a portfolio of properties
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using double entry bookkeeping
• Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Collaborate with property managers to analyze property performance and identify areas for improvement
• Provide financial services and support to property management team
• Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations that may impact property accounting practices
• Assist in financial management activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Demonstrate strong financial acumen and understanding of debits and credits
• Utilize Accounting Software Systems and ADP - Financial Services for efficient operation
• Oversee accounting functions including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Conduct auditing and budget processes as required
• Perform account reconciliation, bank account reconciliation, and credit card reconciliation.

Requirements
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role or related field.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems.
• Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services.
• Strong knowledge of accounting functions.
• Experience handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Proven experience in auditing.
• Familiarity with budget processes.
• Proficiency in account reconciliation.
• Experience with bank account reconciliation and bank reconciliations.
• Experience in credit card reconciliation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
