Robert Half Staff Accountant - Property Management in San Diego, California
Description
Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented staff accountant to join our team on a contract basis, supporting one of our undisclosed property management clients. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with experience in real estate accounting, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting for commercial or residential properties. If you have a strong understanding of property financials, lease accounting, and reconciliations, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions, ensuring timely payments and accurate tenant invoicing.
Prepare and maintain rent rolls, tenant ledgers, and lease abstracts.
Reconcile Common Area Maintenance (CAM) charges, property expenses, and tenant billings.
Track security deposits, lease escalations, and tenant reimbursements.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports for property owners and managers.
Support budgeting and variance analysis for property operations.
Work with property managers and leasing teams to ensure accurate financial records.
Assist with property tax filings, sales tax reporting, and compliance documentation.
Identify and suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Minimum 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate accounting.
Familiarity with CAM reconciliations, lease accounting, and tenant billing.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
Experience with property management accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage, AppFolio).
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with property managers, vendors, and tenants.
