Description
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Property Accountant to manage crucial accounting functions for our commercial real estate operations. This role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, performing variance analyses, and managing key processes such as journal entries, tenant billings, and annual reconciliations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, have experience with Yardi, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and enter monthly journal entries into Yardi.
Maintain lead sheets for various balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Oversee fixed assets in Yardi, including placing new items into service.
Conduct income statement variance analysis (MTD & YTD).
Process monthly commercial tenant billings, tenant billbacks, and account adjustments.
Assemble monthly financial reporting packages for supervisor review.
Post straight-line rent entries and validate lease abstractions in Yardi.
Prepare annual and quarterly CAM reconciliations and tax billings to anchor tenants.
Assist in preparing annual property budgets.
Collaborate with property management to resolve tenant CAM disputes.
Perform GL account analyses and reconciliations.
Approve AP invoices in Payscan and handle tenant percentage rent and CPI calculations.
Assist with special projects as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial real estate accounting (preferred).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a strong aptitude for working with financial systems.
Experience with Yardi software (preferred).
Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and a problem solver.
Flexible, deadline-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
Positive attitude with a team-player mindset willing to assist others as needed.
