Lilly Principal Scientist - Antibody Discovery / Engineering in San Diego, California

Lilly’s Biotechnology Discovery Research (BioTDR) organization has a track record for delivering novel biotherapeutic medicines to advance into clinical research in key areas of unmet medical need including diabetes, oncology, immunology, neuroscience, and others.

Antibody display/engineering associate to join our Display Group responsible for the discovery of novel therapeutic antibodies. The successful candidate should possess solid general molecular biology, microbiology and laboratory skills and apply theoretical, technical and - if possible - hands-on expertise in display/discovery and engineering technologies to help evaluate, optimize and identify lead antibody molecules for clinical development.

Responsibilities

  • Support discovery and engineering efforts using emerging technologies for antibody display including affinity maturation

  • Execute antibody discovery and engineering strategies for lead identification and optimization

  • Run in-house processes for library construction for discovery, and perform library screening and selections

  • Independently perform complex experiments with attention to quality, detail and documentation

  • Interpret data, troubleshoot experiments and present work at internal meetings

Basic Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in Antibody discovery and/or Engineering

Preferred Requirements/Skills

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in library construction and/or screening

  • Experience with yeast, phage, RNA display and/or other discovery and molecular evolution technologies

  • Experience in FACS technology, applied to screening and selection activities

  • Prior work with antibody libraries, affinity maturation and antibody/protein engineering would be a plus
