Ultradent Products Inc Tooling Engineer in Salt Lake City, Utah
Ultradent, a global name in oral health, is looking for a Tooling Engineer. The Tooling Engineer will facilitate the fabrication of injection molding tools for plastic injection molding. This position will include vendor selection, conceptual design of tooling, selection of hot runner system, project management of tooling fabrication, and implementation of tooling into the manufacturing processes.
Under general direction, this individual can expect to be responsible for or involved in the following:
Guide all efforts pertaining to the design, sourcing, maintenance and repair of injection molds within established mold build standards.
Coordination of all tooling RFQ’s
Lead the design review effort on sourced tooling before mold build kick off.
Capable of estimating tooling expense pertaining to new or reworked efforts
Capable of guiding the design of tooling in the interest of the product and manufacturing requirements.
Serve as a technical resource internally
Experience with plastic injection molding and processing
Experience with Solid Works
Continuous improvement on existing tooling
Manage the tooling supplier base
Capable of sample evaluations (dimensional, cosmetic) and coordinating tooling rework to correct non-conformance's
Project/Program coordination – customer, supplier, vendor, employee interface as needed outside of tooling engineer responsibilities.
Support the Tooling Maintenance department as needed
Monitor construction of injection molds.
Monitor project schedules with tooling suppliers and ensure that projects are completed on time and per design requirements

Support in other aspects of the tooling department where experience and desire exude.
What we’re looking for in you:
BS Degree in Engineering, Plastics or related Technical Degree is ideal
Hands on experience in the fabrication of plastic injection mold tooling
Experience in the engineering role
Experience working within the molding industry or specific to mold tooling.
