Description

Wheeler Machinery Co. is seeking a safety-minded Paving Equipment Field Service Technician based out of Salt Lake City, UT. This is a full-time, benefited position. Keep safety first in all tasks while utilizing TRACK/Tyfoom. Will be responsible for routine repair and maintenance of equipment in addition to other duties.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Utilize company and customer safety programs and resources to ensure that all work is completed safely.

  • Perform Field Service troubleshooting and repair work on CAT, Weiler, Etnyre, Bearcat, and Crafco paving equipment

  • Maintain a F550 field service truck and company provided tooling and equipment.

  • Have and maintain a clean MVR (no more than 1 moving violation under the age of 25, and no more than 2 if over the age of 25).

  • Must have some knowledge and experience repairing paving equipment.

  • Good working knowledge of Caterpillar equipment, components, and systems.

  • Demonstrated excellent work ethic with self-motivation, ability to work safe with minimal supervision on customer job sites, while maintaining dealership expectations of thoroughness and customer service.

  • Can keep up with new technology and advancements.

  • Willingness to adapt to changing industry needs.

  • Address challenges head on with a can-do attitude.

  • Willingness to work on all asphalt machines including Cat and non-Cat, pavers, rollers, mills, reclaimers, transfer machines, road wideners, tack distributors.

  • Intense troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Preferred asphalt machine repair experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be self-motived and can work safely independently.

  • Have extensive electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical system troubleshooting and repair experience.

  • Ability to complete repairs and reports with various software systems and devices.

  • Work overtime and weekends and needed.

  • Provide personal hand tools.

  • Have a minimum of a current medical card; and a clean MVR, Class 'B' CDL is preferred.

  • Maintain safety as the top priority in all tasks

  • Communicate accurately and effectively with customers and coworkers.

  • Must be able to operate and maintain a commercial vehicle within company and federal guidelines.

  • Complete safe, timely, quality diagnosis and repairs.
