University of Utah Health Nutrition Care Sanitation/Tray Line Stocker in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

This position is responsible for maintaining sanitation and cleaning of all areas of the department including kitchen, dining room, and service areas while maintaining proper food safety measures. This position is also responsible for stocking patient tray line areas and assembling meal trays. The individual may also assist in the pre-meal preparation of meal service.This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Washes dishes and pots using dish washing equipment, cleans assigned areas and equipment daily, mops floors and performs other light cleaning duties as assigned.

  • Completes cleaning duties as assigned, including deep cleaning of work areas.

  • Removes waste and recyclables from department using access to loading dock and compactor.

  • Sets up food assembly areas, including the patient tray line, and performs other prep duties required to ensure well-coordinated food production and delivery.

  • Prepares food according to instructions written in standardized recipes. Portions and packages food in a timely and sanitary fashion.

  • Rotates, distributes and puts away stock as directed by department.

  • Maintains proper food safety measures.

  • Participates as part of team to ensure prompt and accurate delivery of food service.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.

  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of operating mechanized equipment including slicer, mixer, and dishwasher.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required

  • Current Food Handler permit within one month of hire.

Licenses Required

  • One of the following

  • Current Utah Food Handler Permit.

  • Current Food Protection Manager certification, accredited by ANSI.

* Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Preferred

  • Previous dish washing experience.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

  • This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving patients or objects, such as medical equipment, while providing patient care. This position may be subject to chemical and equipment hazards and is standing and walking for sustained periods of time.

  • Incumbents may face exposure to potentially dangerous cleaning chemicals utilized in sanitation procedures as well as equipment/supply hazards such wet or hot work surfaces and sharp edges on food wrap containers or open cans, meat slicers and food processors. The position involves lifting and/or pushing heavy supply containers, equipment and food carts. Incumbents also face exposure to items discarded on patient and customer trays, including soiled bandages and tubing, spilled medications, bodily fluids, and patient care equipment such as used needles, clamps and scissors.
