Robert Half Accounts Payable Specialist in Saint Louis, Missouri
Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist in St Louis Earnings Tx, Missouri. The successful candidate will join our team and will be tasked with managing a range of duties including processing invoices, managing purchase orders, and conducting general accounting reconciliation.
Responsibilities:
• Process invoices and purchase orders for payment in a timely manner
• Research payment terms when needed and ensure accurate payments
• Participate in the weekly check run process
• Adhere to Job Safety Analysis and Standard Work Instructions to promote safety and environmental responsibility
• Develop guidelines for proper handling and coding of invoices to maintain general ledger expense account and inventory records
• Analyze invoices for accuracy and eligibility for payment
• Verify payments before Controller's signature is added by reviewing checks and vouchers
• Reconcile accounts payable total and general ledger with other applicable records
• Ensure proper recordkeeping of purchases for tax preparation and periodic audits
• Handle pre-approved purchase orders and verify purchases after they are made
• Perform inventory cycle counts and understand compliance issues around accounts payable processes
• Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements • Proven experience as an Accounts Payable Specialist or similar role in the finance sector.
• Proficiency in Accounts Receivable (AR) management.
• Solid understanding and experience in basic bookkeeping procedures.
• Ability to work with accounting software and databases with accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills for maintaining clear, concise financial records.
• Excellent communication skills for dealing with vendors, clients, and internal teams.
• Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
• Demonstrable skills in working to deadlines and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is preferred.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with all accounting regulations and practices.
• Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong analytical abilities for interpreting financial data and preparing reports.
