Transportation Maintenance Manager
This is an exciting opportunity to join a customer-focused Transportation company in the perishables industry. Reporting into the Vice-President of Fleet Management, you will use your many years of Fleet Management expertise to lead the Maintenance team in a wide array of responsibilities, including motivating and managing your staff.
Responsibilities:
Oversee Shop Management including scheduling of Technicians and managing work orders
Manage 3rd party Service providers for preventive and corrective maintenance programs
Work to ensure timely completion of repairs
Work to ensure the appropriate usage of equipment, tools and units
Inspection of units for cleanliness, damage, and mechanical issues
Test drive equipment to ensure functioning properly
Maintain and update files related to vehicle and equipment maintenance
Maintain and update Equipment listing and Fleet Asset Management model
Work with dispatchers to schedule PM and CM service
Make decisions/determinations on unit safety
Work within Transportation Management team to develop operational efficiencies, standardize where possible and manage towards strategic goals
Identify and implement operational improvement initiatives that provide service, financial and/or productivity results
Participate in critical reviews of key indicators, incidents, audits, inspections and improvement opportunities resulting in effective implementation of corrective actions
Manage Maintenance team through effective communication, establish focus and maintain a consistent and fair approach
Develop employees through objective setting, continual feedback and coaching
Develop Training Plans for new employees and ensure all training development plans for current employees are created and completed in a timely manner
Ensure compliance with applicable Policies, Procedures, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and knowledge of DOT and FMCSA rules and regulations
Qualifications:
10+ years of progressive experience in Fleet Maintenance, ideally with significant time spent with perishable products
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Truck and Transport Mechanic Certification or equivalent experience an asset
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in the use of Excel, MS Office, TMS and BI database tools are required
Must have the ability to deal effectively and tactfully with customers and employees and make decisions in a timely, professional manner
