Overview
Buildings & General Services at the State of Vermont has an exciting opportunity with room for growth as a BGS Institutional Maintenance Mechanic.This position will be responsible for buildings, grounds, and utilities maintenance at the Northwest State Correctional Facility.
This position will work Monday through Friday, 7am to 3:30pm. This position requires a valid driver\'s license and successful completion of multiple background checks.

Starting salary may be negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
Environmental Factors
Duties are performed at institutional facilities that operate 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Contact with inmates can be anticipated. Incumbents may encounter harassment or hostile behavior and must be able to respond in a calm and professional manner. Must be able to climb ladders, lift weights up to 75 pounds, and work in cramped, wet, or poorly ventilated areas. Plumbing repairs often entail exposure to raw sewage, for which protective clothing must be worn. Work in all types of weather should be anticipated. May require possession of a valid driver\'s license. Emergency response to calls outside of regular work hours can be expected. Some potential for physical injury may be present.
