U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command Lead Testing Clerk (Office Automation) in Sacramento, California

Summary About the Position: Conducts aptitude and qualification examinations at the MEPS and Military Entrance Test (MET) sites, remote school site, for the applicants of the various Armed Services. Tests include the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).Briefs applicants, distributes examinations, scores exams, performs quality control of examination and applicable applicant information, sends results to appropriate personnel, and performs data entry of results. Responsibilities Will be required to conduct test sessions at remote sites, to include administration of high school tests at inner city, rural, and/or at risk schools with large populations (larger than 100 students). Responsible for directing and guiding lower graded staff members. Provides technical expertise, guidance and leadership to the Testing Element of the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). Delegates workload, reviews completed items and ensures assignments are completed accurately and in a timely manner (according to agency guidelines). Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques, and ensures the availability of written instructions, reference materials and supplies. Conducts on-the-job training of new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. Signs for inventory and receipt of, transfer of, and destruction of accountable test materials. Oversees the mailing of answer sheets and automated results to outside agencies for scoring or recording purposes (such as special purpose tests and schools). Performs Testing Clerk duties identical to those led, including: Conducts aptitude and qualification examinations at the MEPS and Military Entrance Test (MET) sites. Briefs applicants, distributes and proctors examinations, scores exams, performs quality control of examination and applicable applicant information, sends results to appropriate personnel. Performs data entry of results and information into the USMEPCOM Integrated Reporting System (USMIRS). Specialized experience is defined as: Leading teams, providing guidance, providing instructions and training to lower graded staff, assisting with inventory management, administering aptitude and qualification examinations, scoring exams, performing quality control of exams and applicable applicant information; using data management automated software and equipment, such as or similar to the Military Entrance Processing Command Integrated Resource System (MIRS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Public Administration, or in a related Administrative field of studies. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. PROFIENCY REQUIREMENT: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Ability to lead or supervise Communications Computer Skills Product Test and Evaluation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
