Become a Communications Senior Specialist at Southern California Edison and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll create full content packages including written narrative articles, photography and produced videos to be used across various internal and external channels, including SCE.com, Edison.com, Energized.Edison.com, social media and portal. You’ll also help update websites using Content Management Systems, edit content with various digital tools, measure content performance and always be on the hunt for efficiency opportunities. You have a curious mind and can simplify complex topics into simple, engaging and powerful narratives. Along with writing, you will copy edit content and review to make sure the text adheres to AP Style. You have a strong focus on process, quality and continuous improvement. This role serves as PIO during Incident Management Team activations and after hours (including nights and weekends) on call duty on a rotational basis.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts communication materials based on the broader strategy guidelines; creates specific content, visuals, and initial drafts that align with the company's message

  • Prepares correspondence in national media regarding SCE

  • Coordinates across public engagement events, handles inquiries and complaints, and assists with post Public Engagement analysis

  • Liaises and coordinates with third parties including service providers, PR agencies, news monitoring agency, and other partners

  • Conducts the analysis of social metrics, delivers insights, and participates in learning to make informed decisions for content development

  • Monitors media sentiment and develops a relevant communications plan and approach including lines-to-take, as well as support issue and crisis communication

  • Aids with group communications initiatives, internal and corporate communications, drives impact community programs, and performs other communication tasks

  • Reviews all materials and content reviewing for quality and brand inefficiencies

  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in Corporate Communications within a corporate and/or agency environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Relations, Marketing and Communications or related field.

  • Strong writing skills using AP Style.

  • Experience copy editing using AP Style.

  • Experience using Adobe Suite, including Premiere, Photoshop, or Adobe Analytics.

  • Experience updating websites using Content Management Systems such as Wordpress, IPR Software, Drupal, YouTube, etc.

  • Ability to simplify complex topics into powerful narratives.

  • Strong organization and prioritization skills with a focus on quality.

  • Experience working in a team environment on multiple concurrent projects and able to meet deadlines.

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • Position will require up to 25% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
