Xcellent Technology Solutions GIS Analyst in Rolla, Missouri

Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of geospatial data and spatial analysis as you bring your passion to the team and a real impact to the US Geological Survey's 3D Hydrology Program.  Imagine diving into stream networks, DEMs, and the analysis of vector and raster data—the raw materials for mapping waterways to monitor river networks, hydrological features, and watercourses.

We are on the lookout for a talented, self-motivated, inquisitive GIS Analyst to support USGS and the National Map and to join the 3D Hydrography Program (3DHP)! As a GIS Analyst, you’ll be on the forefront of scientific discovery, environmental stewardship, and impactful decision-making. Your contributions and efforts will reshape and redefine our understanding of water networks - mapping rivers, analyzing terrain, and collaborating with experts, all while contributing to an enhanced visualization and perception of our planet.

The 3DHP represents a groundbreaking initiative to systematically remap the Nation's hydrography data. Leveraging high-quality elevation data from the 3D Elevation Program, the 3DHP ensures accuracy and consistency of all collected data. As a GIS Analyst, you’ll dive into geospatial datasets, delineate hydrographic features, unravel patterns, and contribute to and revitalize The National Map. Your role involves integrating this data, ensuring accuracy, and creating detailed hydrography models. You’ll work closely with fellow analysts, hydrologists, and environmental scientists to validate, refine, and enrich Alaskan hydrography data, allowing you to bolster your capabilities and master your craft while on the job, as well as receiving mentorship from top professionals along the way. Expect brainstorming sessions, data dives, and the thrill of discovery. You’ll translate complex data into actionable insights. Whether it’s a report on changing river courses or a visualization of watershed boundaries, your work will guide decision-makers, researchers, and conservationists. By improving hydrography data, you’ll support environmental conservation, flood modeling, and water resource management. It’s a great opportunity to contribute towards vital data creation and leave a lasting legacy!
