HISPANIC BROTHERHOOD Program Assistant in Rockville Centre, New York

Program Assistant is responsible for assisting new and existing case clients and/or seniors and maintaining a welcoming environment at the Rockville Centre and Hempstead sites while ensuring compliance with all regulations. Responsibilities include case assistance for walk in or existing clients and assisting the Senior Program Coordinators as needed at each lunch program site. Monthly reporting assistance and submission as required.

Primary Responsibilities: Provide walk in clients with case assistance completing various types of applications including SNAP applications and Medicaid applications Answer telephone inquiries and provide general client support Assist existing Section 8 clients processing recertification requests and new Section 8 case set ups Support and provide successful, friendly, clean lunch site for the senior meal program Ensure regulatory compliance in food handling and safety standards Work towards meeting program goals of meals and seniors served Ensure site is compliant with required paperwork Assist with inspection and monitor meals and assure that standards for appearance, palatability, temperature and serving times are met Perform outreach activities for nutrition programs Strong multi-task and follow up skills are a must Make fliers, brochures and advertisements as needed Act as contact between the Hispanic Brotherhood and partner vendors Assist in social media presence Data entry of program information and statistics Prepare, maintain and display monthly senior activity and meal calendars Prepare, log and monitor monthly productivity statistics using internal spreadsheets and vendor software (Peerplace) Prepare, maintain and provide monthly reports to Management in a timely manner Prepare and assist with monthly senior activities (i.e. bingo, raffles, birthday celebrations, holiday celebrations, yoga, exercise classes, offsite trips) Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

High School Diploma required Background in food service preferred but not required Experience in marketing, advertising and communications is desirable Proficient in excellent computer skills (i.e Outlook, Word, Publisher, Excel, Google Suite) Proficient use of social media and internet Must be able to read, speak, and write English fluently; Bilingual preferred (Spanish) Ability to follow verbal and written directions in English Must have Food Service Manager Certification, or become certified within two (2) months of hire. Responsible for keeping certification current Must have own transportation to travel between Rockville Centre and Hempstead offices, and any required training classes Work Environment: The work is performed indoors and/or outdoors Mult-site travel is required (Rockville Centre Hempstead locations) Physical Demands: This position requires the following physical abilities: bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching, standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, climbing and relocating up to 50lbs Finger dexterity for activities such as typing, use of computer mouse, computer usage, grasping and repetitive motions Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus **To apply please email resume to hispanicrvc@gmail.com and to calderon.c.hbrvc@gmail.com
