Heritage Christian Services Senior Accounting Manager - Payables, Receivables and Special Projects in Rochester, New York

Overview

To manage Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Purchasing functions, and to lead, design, plan, oversee and implement special projects initiated by the SVP Finance and Corporate Controller to support the work and departmental goals of the Finance and Accounting department. Special projects include, but are not limited to, departmental and strategic priorities relative to process automation, optimization enabling process efficiencies and excellence while working and collaborating closely with cross-functional departments as needed. Pay for this position: $66435 / yr - $88587 / yr

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above range represents the organization's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight, supervision, and development of accounts receivable and payables and other accounting staff.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the accounts receivable, payable, and purchasing processes.

    • Preparation and review of monthly account reconciliations and variance analyses.
  • Assess current state of accounting platforms, processes and procedures and identify new ways to improve, automate and optimize billing, payables, vendor management and expense reporting and other opportunities for process improvement.

  • Project planning for new initiatives to support process improvements, optimization and automation including developing milestones and tasks and collaborate with IT.

  • Work closely with other Finance and Accounting staff and across the Agency if applicable to coordinate cross-departmental and operational stakeholder collaboration, to build buy-in and facilitate effective implementation and change management.

  • Project oversight from planning to execution.

  • Track and report out on project plans to internal and external stakeholders, support broader updates to senior leadership as required through preparation of materials, coordination of meetings etc.

  • Oversee the successful implementation of special projects and workstreams, create implementation guidance, training or other materials as needed to implement projects, coordinate training on new platforms and processes.

  • Ensuring state and governmental compliance and regulations are followed in collaboration with the VP of Corporate Compliance and Risk Management as a result of process changes.

  • Create and edit standard operating procedures (SOPs) to reflect modification and/or the implementation of new processes and automation.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS required, preferable in Accounting or Finance

  • Supervisory experience preferred

  • Strong background in business process improvement, operations or management consulting

  • Effective project management and change agent: A strategic thinker and structured problem-solver, able to drive change and innovation

  • Ability to communicate effectively while demonstrating strong interpersonal skills with teammates, agency leaders and colleagues

  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines

  • Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in the face of competing demands and external pressures

  • Strong digital and technology literacy skills including Microsoft Office, Word and Excel

  • Required five to seven years of experience in related field and experience in responsibilities and qualifications described above
