Job Responsibilities:

Provide Primary Care Clinical Services e.g.

  • illness assessment and management

  • injury evaluation and management including concussions, ankle sprains, lacerations

  • mental health services including assessment and management of adjustment disorders, depression and anxiety; familiarity with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and personality disorders

  • Gender Affirming Care experience or willingness to learn

  • basic gynecology care: Pap smears, amenorrhea evaluation, PCOS, LARC methods

  • Disordered eating evaluation

Provide clinical leadership in the department which may include:

  • development of clinical protocols

  • evaluation, design and implementation of new services

  • supervision of student run ambulance

  • oversight of other health care providers on behalf of the Medical Director

Participate in quality improvement, accreditation and other practice management activities utilizing internal data, external benchmarks with attention to emerging and best practices in health care

Serve as a resource for the larger campus community regarding public health initiatives:

  • participate in wellness and other health promotion programs and activities.

  • build relationships of trust and confidence with colleagues across the University and with other key stakeholders

  • respond to on-campus crisis after hours if needed

  • serve as medical consultant regarding University policy in conjunction with the Medical Director.

Professional Development including participation in department, division and University committees, task forces and projects as assigned as well as ongoing Continuing Medical Education as needed to maintain board certification.

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree: D.O. or M.D.

  • Certification, professional license, or credential:

  • DEA Certification or eligibility

  • New York State License or eligibility.

  • Board certified in Family/Internal Medicine/Pediatrics

  • Three to five years of post-doctoral direct clinical experience

  • At least 1 year of clinical-administrative/leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education health care

  • Prior experience with Pyramed electronic record

  • Procedural skills e.g. suturing, incision and drainage, IUD insertions.

  • Experience in Gender Affirming Care provision

  • Familiarity with assessment of Eating Disorders

  • EMS experience

  • Skills consistent with delivery of high quality primary health care including mental health services

  • Have an understanding of young adult contemporary healthcare issues and the skills to work effectively with a college-age population, international students, faculty, and staff

  • Outstanding communications skills, oral, written, and digital including the ability to convey clinical information in accessible terms to diverse audiences

  • Proven ability to work with a diversity of staff in achieving high quality patient care

  • High emotional intelligence a commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards

  • Proficiency with electronic medical record applications and office productivity software

  • Ability to manage and maintain confidential and private information; uses confidential, sensitive and/or private records and information, protects information appropriately

  • Ability to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships based on respect, empathy and honesty with diverse groups and individuals

  • Knowledge of Deaf culture, American Sign Language (ASL), or willingness to learn (dual competency, see communication above)
