Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Lead Mechanical Field Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to supervise and manage the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems at project sites, ensuring that all systems are implemented according to specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Project Oversight and Execution:

  • Lead the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, pumps, etc.) at project sites.

  • Supervise field teams to ensure adherence to project plans, mechanical drawings, and specifications.

  • Ensure that mechanical systems are installed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with project requirements.

Team Leadership and Coordination:

  • Provide technical guidance and support to field engineers, technicians, and subcontractors to ensure high-quality mechanical installations.

  • Coordinate between various teams, including design, procurement, construction, and quality assurance, to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Conduct regular site meetings to review project progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure deadlines are met.

Quality Control and Compliance:

  • Ensure all mechanical systems are installed and functioning as per design specifications and in compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI).

  • Conduct regular inspections and reviews of mechanical installations, identifying any potential issues or areas for improvement.

  • Implement quality control measures and troubleshooting procedures to resolve issues that arise in the field.

Safety Management:

  • Ensure that safety protocols are strictly followed on-site, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with company and industry safety standards.

  • Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel involved in the mechanical works.

  • Lead or participate in safety training and safety meetings to promote a culture of safety.

Technical Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare and review technical reports, installation manuals, and as-built drawings for mechanical systems.

  • Document the progress of mechanical installations and report any deviations from the planned scope or schedule to the project manager.

  • Provide recommendations for design modifications or improvements based on field experience and performance of mechanical systems.

Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve any mechanical issues encountered during installation or operation of systems.

  • Analyze system performance and propose corrective actions for underperforming equipment or installations.

  • Work with vendors or manufacturers to resolve equipment-related issues or concerns.

Client and Stakeholder Communication:

  • Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure the mechanical systems meet their expectations and project specifications.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to clients or other departments during the project lifecycle.

  • Ensure that mechanical systems meet operational goals and perform in line with client requirements.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on fieldwork and project execution.

  • Proven experience leading or supervising mechanical installation projects, preferably in industries such as construction, manufacturing, or energy.

  • Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, pumps, and other mechanical infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with mechanical design software and tools (AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, etc.).

  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate field teams.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with various stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and quality standards relevant to mechanical engineering.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Professional engineering certifications (e.g., PE, PMP) or industry-specific certifications.

  • Experience in commissioning and start-up of mechanical systems.

  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations specific to mechanical systems (e.g., ASHRAE, NEC).

  • Proficiency in project management software or tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).

  • Previous experience working in field environments, particularly with large-scale projects.
