The Digital Newsroom Manager USA, Corporate Affairs sits in the US Corporate Communications and Brand Touchpoints team and is focused on driving an active thought-leading, storytelling and highly engaging editorial agenda across all internal and external, traditional, and digital communication channels. These include the US corporate website, INSITE, and all US social media channels, creating synergies across our animal and human health business units.

Key accountabilities for this role include acting as Editor-in-Chief for the US corporate channels, bearing responsibility that the US editorial calendar consistently follows the Global Communications Strategic Agenda, and ensuring that the content queued up for publishing reflects corporate brand standards, content excellence expectations, and is consistent with the strategic agenda. The role holder will also foster continuous improvement on channels from a content, visual and format perspective as well as must be able to understand content creation and distribution. This role is responsible for producing high-quality content and partnering with a network of freelancers scoped to create digital assets and dynamic copy for all Boehringer's US channels, leading proactive social listening activities with stakeholders to curate relevant backgrounds news, insights, and trends that will inform/shape corporate content as well as serving as a liaison with our Corporate team in Germany and report learnings, providing updates on global led campaigns and sharing best practices to ensure cross functional excellence.

This role reports directly to the Director, Corporate Communications and Brand Touchpoints.

This position offers a base salary typically between $102,000 and $155,000.  The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements.  For an overview of our benefits please click here. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Introduces a global editorial content strategic agenda that is based on the Global Communications Strategic Agenda.

  • Continues to build an ambitious newsroom environment of content excellence and effective cross-channel use.

  • Produces high-quality written, visual, and multimedia content across various digital platforms, including social media posts, infographics, leadership communications and internal communication pieces.

  • Ensures content is compelling, on-brand and optimized for SEO and audience engagement.

  • Works with a network of freelancers scoped to create digital assets and dynamic copy for all Boehringer's US channels.

  • Manages the flow of requests from stakeholders and assign work appropriately to balance resources' bandwidth.

  • Be the Editor-in-Chief, ensuring all content is aligned to corporate brand guidelines.

  • Proposes key content that stands out, stimulates debate, shares insight, etc.

  • Helps stakeholder make data-driven decision about their content.

  • Supports internal communications stakeholders to create engaging, impactful content for internal and external channels.

  • Continuously takes a data-driven, creative approach to propose improvements regarding channel formats and templates, positioning of stories, and ensure that our publishing channels are modern, dynamic, and attractive go-to sources for stakeholders.

  • Ensures the implementation of a content planning tool, streamline and host effective editorial briefing meetings, ensure timely heads-up of content plans and new initiatives for all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Minimum six (6) years of experience in corporate comms environment or comparable newsroom.

  • Adept at stakeholder management and demonstrates expertise in navigating a heavily matrixed organization.

  • Exemplary project management skills that ensure timely action and free-flowing information.

  • Quick thinker, spotting opportunities, able to react at speed, confident in taking autonomous decisions.

  • A risk-taker and challenger, who can drive engaging, thought-provoking content.

  • Ability to proactively drive agendas, think up creative thoughts and ideas.

  • Modern journalistic skills, ability to think across traditional and digital channels.

  • An instinctual collaborator who prefers an inclusive approach over an individual approach.

  • Natural curiosity, sound judgment and an intellectual capability to write for a wide variety of stakeholder audiences with an interest in healthcare topics.

  • Follows the news, ability to link external, societal trends and developments to strategic agenda of the company and create engaging editorial content from it.
