Tredegar Corporation Tax Accounting & Compliance Manager in Richmond, Virginia

Job Summary:

The Tax Accounting & Compliance Manager will work with the Tax Director, Tredegar tax team, and consultants to manage and prepare quarterly and annual tax provisions. The position will manage the income tax compliance process, including OneSource system maintenance. The position will get involved as necessary in tax research, and planning projects for Tredegar Corporation and its subsidiaries. The Tax Accounting & Compliance Manager will work directly with Tredegar’s Domestic and International business units, external accountants, and consultants. This role will assist with tax and financial accounting audits. The Tax Accounting & Compliance Manager will partner with the Tax Director to ensure that SOX controls are properly addressed. The position will evaluate existing tax accounting and compliance processes and make recommendations for efficiency improvements.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Financial accounting for income taxes, including assisting with tax accounting processes, preparing annual tax accruals, related journal entries, financial statement tax footnotes, calculating and forecasting effective tax rates, reconciling accruals to returns, maintaining tax accounts in corporate and subsidiary general ledgers, and providing requested information to financial auditors.

  • Federal, state, and international tax compliance, including managing compliance processes, OneSource system maintenance, gathering information, performing related research, preparing returns and related work papers and documentation, preparing check requests, monitoring due dates and refunds, and performing all other ancillary compliance tasks.

  • As requested, perform non–routine federal, state, and international tax and financial accounting research, planning, and advising, including acquisitions and dispositions, tax minimization strategies, etc.

  • Work on federal, state, and international tax audits, including meeting with auditors, gathering information, researching issues, and performing other related tasks.

  • General administration of tax functions, including continuing education, maintaining tax software products, technical reading, improving department processes, and other miscellaneous administrative duties.

  • Continuous process improvement to reduce internal and external costs and improve overall efficiency.

  • Work with the Tax Director to ensure that SOX controls are properly addressed.

    Qualifications & Skills:

    Required – B.S. Degree in Accounting.

    Desired – Masters of Taxation or Accountancy, CPA Certificate, advanced degree, and sufficient tax experience. Knowledge of tax research software and tax compliance software.

    Experience:

    Minimum of 7-10 years in corporate tax department of public company and/or large public accounting firm.
