Description
We are offering a Sr. Budget Analyst role in the government sector located in Richmond, Virginia. As the Sr. Budget Analyst, you will be responsible for providing advanced technical assistance in the preparation, development, analysis, and monitoring of the annual budgets for various programs. This role is a contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and coordinate budgets in accordance with established policies, guidelines, and procedures.
• Prepare scenarios for various decision points and analyze historical trends for assigned portfolio.
• Review initiative requests and operational program improvements received from stakeholders.
• Monitor assigned departmental appropriated budgets to ensure compliance with spending limitations and chart of accounts.
• Prepare budget analysis of current trends, long-term trends, and significant budget increases/decreases over prior year expenditures as necessary.
• Prepare quarterly analysis and projections of assigned department expenses and budget change requests.
• Certify fund availability and proper account coding for proposed expenses.
• Assist in annual clean-up and close-out of accounts at Fiscal Year end.

Requirements
• Proven experience in a similar role, preferably as a Sr. Budget Analyst or related position
• Proficiency in budget management and monitoring
• Strong skills in financial analysis
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to make informed decisions based on financial data
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work well in a team and independently when required
• Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
