Jacobs Bridge Engineering Professional Associate in Reston, Virginia
Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Bridge Engineering Professional Associate for the Reston, VA office. Responsibilities:
Work on transportation projects that focus on bridges and other transportation structure designs. Analysis and development of design, plan preparation, specifications, and reports. Perform bridge inspections and produce inspection reports. Produce design documentation/calculations. Perform structural design calculations for prestressed concrete and steel girder bridges, includes development of calculations, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and reports as well as other transportation structures such as retaining walls and drainage structures. Perform finite element analysis. Develop automation-based solutions to repetitive problems using computer programming skills. Perform quality reviews. Research design options and document findings. Prepare budgets and schedules for bridge design tasks. Assist with other duties assigned by project managers.
Telecommuting/ Hybrid schedule is allowed.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field and 4 years of work experience in the job offered (Bridge Engineer) or a related occupation. In Lieu of the requirements listed above, employer will accept a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field and 6 years of work experience in the job offered (Bridge Engineer) or a related occupation.
SPECIFIC SKILLS: Professional experience with and knowledge of: Structural analysis and design calculations for various components of bridge structures. Prepared Bridge Plans with MicroStation. Developed Construction Plans, Specifications, and Cost Estimates. AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications to transportation structures. VDOT Standards, including Office Practice Manuals, Stage I reports, and Stage II requirements for submission. Task management skills. Load rating Engineering services during constructions. Bridge inspections. Preparation of structural technical reports. Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in VA, or obtainable within 6 months of hire.
