POSITION INFORMATION:This is an Open Competitive / Countywide promotional recruitment being conducted to fill currentvacancies at the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. For more information on this position, please see the Job Specification athttps://www.washoecounty.us/humanresources/jobspecs.phpMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:One year of full-time clerical experience, preferably in a law enforcement environment; OR six (6)months of full-time Communication Specialist experience in all areas of Police/Fire/EMS communications.LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE* Possession of, or ability to obtain within six months of employment, current certification on the NCIC/CJIS criminal history information systems.* Emergency Medical Dispatch (MPDS) and CPR certification required within one year of employment.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:* To be eligible, top candidates will be required to undergo an in-depth, thorough, extensive and detailed background investigation:* Must pass a drug test* Must pass a background investigation* Must be willing to submit a set of fingerprints* Must complete and submit a personal history statement* Must pass a Computerized Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA) examinationAdditionally:* Must be able to remain calm in emergency situations.* Must be able to work in a noisy environment and be able to sit for long periods of time.* Must be able to pass a data entry test with 3,786 KPH (keystrokes per hour) with 95% accuracy* Applicants must be willing to work shifts, weekends and holidays.* The Washoe County Employees Association (WCEA) Non-Supervisory Unit covers the Communications Specialist position. When the grading is completed, you will receive an additional email notifying you of your score and rank.
