Ameresco Associate Project Engineer in Remote, New York

Position Overview:

Ameresco currently has an opportunity for an Associate Project Engineer based in Syracuse, NY to join the Energy Management team. This role will be assisting with the development and implementation of energy saving projects and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) best practices for the New York State Office of Mental Health’s (NYSOMH) Comprehensive Energy Efficiency and Pollution Prevention Program (CEEP).

The program includes various technical and management tasks that will foster professional development while providing value to our client.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide project support for development, design, and implementation of energy conservation measures.

  • Support and assist critical initiatives to assist the program exceed established energy reduction goals and objectives.

  • Evaluate design drawings and contractor work proposals and provide recommendations for cost-effective energy efficiency strategies.

  • Provide assistance with engineering assessment including baseline profiles, retrofit analysis, feasibility studies, preliminary design and reporting, energy modeling, drafting, and pricing activities.

  • Assess replacing/upgrading HVAC systems, building management systems, boilers, chillers, generators, and electrical switchgear.

  • Prepare technical content, analysis, and reports.

  • Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and applicable codes.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field.

  • Minimum of 3 months experience in engineering design, energy management, facility management or a similar discipline.

  • Valid Drivers’ License in good standing, issued by resident state required.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Capable of working autonomously within the team environment and asking for support and guidance as required.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and business relationships.

  • Proven ability to gather, validate, and analyze quantitative data and information.

  • Enjoy the challenge of troubleshooting and problem solving in a technical setting.

  • Proficiency with drafting and MS Excel.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication and technical presentation skills.

  • Present professionally to clients of Ameresco.

  • Reliable means of transportation for regular visits to client sites
