Meta Structural Design Engineer - FEA in Redmond, Washington
Summary:

As a Structural Design Engineer, you will be fully integrated into the product development process from the earliest stages. You will build finite element models, analyze AR/VR designs, characterize materials, verify & validate finite element models. You will work as part of a cross-functional team requiring collaboration with product design, manufacturing design, materials and reliability teams. Our ideal candidate has solid mechanics fundamentals, experience in static & dynamic finite element analysis, material characterization & modeling, experience in consumer electronics, and effective communication skills.

Structural Design Engineer - FEA Responsibilities:
As a structural design engineer, work across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to shipping product.
Build system-level & module-level finite element models to assess risk of various failure modes under different loading conditions and propose changes to make the design more robust and reliable.
Perform module-level shock and thermo-mechanical analyses.
Organize and lead structural design reviews, design brainstorms, and present FEA results in a form actionable by cross-functional teams and leadership.
Collaborate with the materials team and/or outside vendors to characterize materials and components.
Collaborate with REL & DVE teams on FEA model validation as well as development of technical specifications.
Minimum Qualifications:

MS in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, or similar.
Fundamental understanding of solid mechanics, strength of materials, and finite element analysis.
5+ years of experience with FEA softwares such as HyperMesh, SimLab, Abaqus, ANSYS etc.
Proven analytical skills based on first principles.
Experience in static and dynamic finite element analysis as well as thermo-mechanical analysis.
Experience in modeling material behavior & failure for different types of materials
Proven communication skills.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Mechanical Engineering, or 5+ years of experience in the consumer electronics industry.
Experience with Abaqus, HyperMesh, and SimLab.
Experience with material calibration & validation tests using DIC, Universal Testing Machine, and DMA.
Experience with 3D modeling software e.g. NX, SolidWorks, etc.
Public Compensation:
$139,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
