Azure Front Door delivers a geographically distributed internet-facing set of services that provide acceleration, caching and highly customizable traffic processing. Azure Front Door is an all-encompassing charter that includes the building of Content Delivery Network (CDN), Dynamic Site Acceleration (DSA), Audio Video streaming acceleration, advanced load balancing & rapid failover, Web Application Firewall (WAF), and many other cool technologies. Azure Front Door enables our customers to take a simple backend HTTP application and expose it to the world such that the app has global footprint, low-latency, high-throughput, super-scale, fault-tolerance, security, easy management, and reduced load on the customer backend. Azure Front Door accelerates some of the largest services in the world.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and operate the core HTTP traffic processing.

  • Write and operate code that is super-scale but lightweight, maintainable, efficient and reliable.

  • Be critical in enhancing the performance, quality, density and reliability of the platform.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Pythono OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Pythono OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience in any of the following areas

  • HTTP and/or TCP

  • OS internals (Windows or Linux)

  • Rust

  • Distributed Services

  • Good knowledge of data structures, algorithms, programming, asynchronous & multithreaded designs.

  • 4+ years of software development experience in large codebases.

  • Good technical know-how, ability to quickly adapt to new technology and go deep in new focus areas.

  • knowledge in design and problem-solving skills, with a bias for quality and engineering excellence at scale.

  • Good written and verbal communication.

  • Good cross group collaboration skills.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
