The Microsoft Search, Assistant, and Intelligence (MSAI) team is responsible for developing and delivering innovative solutions for Microsoft 365 Copilot. We work on integrating intelligence and natural language capabilities into all the Microsoft 365 apps.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be developing the design and implementation of several critical services that support M365 Copilot. You will be working with an incredibly talented team operating like a startup and be at the forefront of Microsoft Copilot experience.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing design and implementation of software solutions, ensuring they align with business goals and scalability requirements. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into robust and scalable designs. 

  • Write code and actively contribute to the software development effort, especially critical components of the design.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship toearly in career developers.

  • Optimize existing systems and applications for cloud deployment, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, especially in the fields of Large Language Models (LLMs) and GenAI. 

  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance the software architecture and keep the organization at the forefront of innovation. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and data scientists, to ensure a cohesive and effective development process.

  • Communicate architectural decisions, technical concepts, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Machine Learning Operations,(MLOps), Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery/Continuous Deployment( CI/CD), development of deployment systems.  

  • Good programming and algorithm design skills. 

  • Experience with building robust distributed systems.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
