Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and Open Source Software (OSS) offerings.

Join our dynamic team, as a Senior Software Engineer at Azure Database for PostgreSQL, one of Microsoft Azure's latest additions to its exceptional lineup of relational database services. We are expanding the choice of database services in Azure and need your help to meet our customers’ demand. Our team is part of Database Systems organization and building the PostgreSQL service on the common platform supporting all relational database workloads and leveraging the scale of our global presence in all Azure datacenters.

With the services growing, we would like to provide our customers with the best management experience they could have. We are looking for people passionate about tackling the breadth of issues coming from running online services, such as improving availability, scalability, query performance and processing, storage and networking optimizations, operating systems integration, and more. You will collaborate across boundaries with partner teams to create compelling first-party integrations for Open Source Database provided on Azure. Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver incredible user experiences.

  • Own and deliver complete features, including design, architecture, implementation, testability, debugging, and shipping.

  • Work closely with other disciplines to shape the product

  • Demonstrate the ability to learn quickly, be self-directed, and work well with other people

  • Foster a culture of being agile, innovative, team-oriented and customer-focused

  • Mentor and teach engineers across the team to improve technical/architecture/troubleshooting skills and scale sharing knowledge through improved documentation and training

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of experience with TypeScript

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • Proficiency in debugging and diagnosing service issues

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
