Microsoft Corporation Senior Program Manager in Redmond, Washington

The Surface Team is defining the next generation of products to engage and delight our customers. Creating these devices involves a close partnership between hardware and software engineers, designers, and manufacturing. We are seeking a Senior Program Manager who will build plan and drive the successful delivery of our next generation of devices with a direct focus on the end-to-end Software experience.

The Senior Program Manager will be responsible collaborating with internal stake holders and help build a plan and drive the execution of various technology areas across Software and Hardware. The successful candidate will have proven experience shipping multiple products, a disciplined approach to the development of computing devices, as well as excellent cross-organizational and project management skills. Responsibilities

  • Lead and collaborate with partner teams to align with the Surface Software Program process, schedule, and scope, driving next step executions and SW release milestone management.

  • Manage Surface Software program consistency across all Surface programs.

  • Drive the execution and delivery using common engineering tools, triage, tracking and reporting aligning to product milestones.

  • Anticipate risks; assess, mitigate, and manage accordingly.

  • Organize and present program reviews/status to engineering, business, and senior management.

  • Manage and work with the other program managers and development leaders to organize and collect weekly Software in-Development Review required materials for Senior leadership team review.

  • Manage reporting of critical information to various Surface team members, including leadership

  • Monitor mass production lines to identify possible improvement areas and manage any urgent unexpected line issues

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years' experience in engineering, product/technical program management, product development - or other engineering disciplines - defining, driving, and shipping products through multiple ship cycles.

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years' experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development - or other engineering disciplines - defining, driving, and shipping products through multiple ship cycles.

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • Held responsibility for the creation of functional specifications, project schedules and building plans to deliver.

  • Enthusiastic, attention to detail, results oriented, organized, motivated and self-driven.

  • Outstanding track record of accomplishing results in a matrixed environment, working collaboratively across boundaries and influencing other teams

  • Excellent communication skills

  • High degree of flexibility - willing to fill in the gaps rather than relying on others.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
