We are looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager with a passion for delivering well-designed, scalable, and reliable software for large-scale projects. As part of this role, you will be managing a team of incredibly talented software engineers and collaborating closely with multiple teams to deliver key customer solutions and the technology to support them.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for building end to end world-class customer experiences and own critical services that customers (internal and external) rely on when they are looking to adopt Microsoft Azure effectively.

  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of services for extremely high scale, throughput, durability, and low latency.

  • You will lead a team of software engineers. Lead the team in planning, scoping objectives, laying out execution plan and delivering results swiftly without compromising quality 

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership to the software engineering teams on architecture, design, development and live site. 

  • Conduct in-depth triage, troubleshooting, and forensics across all facets of the cloud stack while executing processes corrective action and continual service improvement ensuring 100% compliance with engineering standards.

  • Drive Infrastructure security improvements for mission critical high scale workloads.

  • Lead the definition of requirements, Key Performance Indicator (KPIs), priorities and planning of engineering deliverables.

  • You will also work closely with cross-functional teams including our Product Managers, Designers, Partners and Customers to deliver a seamless, extensible, highly reliable and performant experience that meets the unique needs of Azure customers.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Pythono OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience managing and leading a team of software developers.

  • 3+ years of proven record of accomplishment for building and shipping production software.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years

technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not

limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8 years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including,

but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR equivalent experience.

• 1+ year of infrastructure experience building end to end world-class Natural

language Processing (NLP) based support experiences for Cloud businesses

• Experience delivering large cross group projects in collaboration with multiple

partner teams

• Demonstrated ability and experience in the entire product development

lifecycle: design, implementation, deployment, and live site support.

• Background on services and cloud computing a plus.

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
