We are looking to hire a Principal Software Engineering Manager to help drive improvements to the Copilot for M365 platform.

You and your team will be responsible to deliver mission critical improvements to the M365 Copilot platform to ensure Copilot remains safe and secure for our largest customers and their most confidential data stored in M365. As an engineering manager, you and your team will drive the engineering architecture and end to end delivery of service components that enable M365 Copilot to integrate with data classification and identity systems across Microsoft. You will be working with an incredibly talented team operating like a startup and be at the forefront of Microsoft Copilot experience. This role presents a highly strategic opportunity to enable features that target Microsoft’s largest enterprise customers. In addition, you will drive enhancements to the backend of Copilot for M365 to improve the end user experience.

Responsibilities

  • You are directly accountable for delivery of improvements to the Copilot platform for M365; ensuring they align with business goals.

  • You will partner with Product Management to define, design and rollout features to production and solicit feedback to go from concept -> launch.

  • You will partner with science teams to derive and ship techniques to improve Copilot user satisfaction.

  • You demonstrate pride in the growth of every member of your team. You will be leading a team of 8-10 engineers that are passionate and eager to grow. As a manager you will be responsible in defining the scope, vision and direction for your team.

  • Define and drive support processes for the team to engage directly with customers to help trouble shoot incidents / high priority escalations.

  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance the software architecture and keep the organization at the forefront of innovation

  • You are adept at generating clarity while working independently in ambiguous environments.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience as an engineering manager, or a technical lead with a passion for coaching and mentoring others.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years people management experience.

  • Experience in working on Cloud services development.

  • Experiences in Dev Ops / Live Site processes to maintain scalable cloud services.

  • Experience in service level agreement (SLA) management, including defining, measuring, and owning key performance indicators (KPIs) such as reliability, latency, and throughput.

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
