The Application Identities Platform Team belongs to the Microsoft Entra organization (formerly called Azure Active Directory), which offers the Identity platform for Microsoft 365, Azure, and many software companies and helps them create cloud services that are secure and reliable. Our team's role is to make it easy for developers to give their applications an identity that can be verified and granted access to resources. We also provide experiences for administrators and end users that help them to make smart and secure authorization choices when they need to let applications access their data. We solve highly complex problems in the critically important cloud security space. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer who can help us architect. implement, and deliver high-quality and high-scale cloud services that meet the needs of our customers and partners. Responsibilities

  • Manage, coach and mentor engineers, build a high-performing engineering team.

  • Develop and maintain a wide and deep knowledge of our platform and the space, recognize problems, Identity opportunities, design solutions.

  • Work closely with customers and partners to understand their requirements and scenarios, and effectively lead towards delivering the necessary solutions.

  • Define a direction for your team to deliver such solutions and adjust and change course as needed when facing challenges.

  • Collaborate with other engineers, program managers, and designers across the Entra organization and beyond to deliver end-to-end experiences that delight our customers and users.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience managing software engineers as well as developing highly effective engineering teams.

  • 2+ years of experience architecting and designing complex software systems / distributed services.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
