We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join the Teams organization and lead our work on driving fundamentals across the org and leveraging AI to drive insights from our rich telemetry and feedback data sources to improve Teams for everyone along with improved engineering efficiencies for our developers. This includes the E2E strategy for how we use telemetry to measure, leverage customer feedback, how we create diagnostics and analytics at scale to enable faster detection and debugging and leveraging AI in all of these aspects.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the E2E strategy and execution for AI driven insights and analysis across Teams from the data to workflows, building diagnostics and debuggability and engineering systems.

  • Collaborate and partner effectively with Product, Customer success, Engineering teams within and beyond our org, to drive fundamentals excellence with a growth mindset, data driven approach grounded in customer obsession and empathy.

  • Drive technical activities in a hands-on way across initiatives from planning to design, development, analysis and debugging at scale.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience leading initiatives across teams, or as a technical lead with a passion for coaching and mentoring others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Commitment to fundamentals and building quality software with a data driven approach, experience with analyzing and driving performance and reliability optimizations on Web, native and hybrid applications.

  • Experience with applying AI models and building E2E data pipeline to support workflows and insights at scale.

  • Ability to collaborate, communicate, drive initiatives, navigating ambiguity and building partnerships across teams.

  • Extensive technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, JavaScript, React, Typescript, or Python.

Software Engineering IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
