Microsoft Corporation Principal Program Manager Lead in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft’s Edge + Platform Security Fundamentals (EPSF) team is looking for a Principal Program Manager Leader to manage compliance and security functions. EPSF is a part of Azure Edge + Platform (E+P), a globally distributed team responsible for platforms and services that enable consistent application development and management across the cloud and the edge. EPSF is responsible for increasing trust in our products through our Security Fundamentals and Compliance efforts. This includes thoughtfully applying our within-ESPF expertise while working to scale security and compliance across the wider division and company through tooling, automation, and knowledge building.

As a leader in the EPSF Program Management organization, you will enable product teams to deliver trusted and secure platforms and services. You will lead your team to ideate and innovate with the aim of building security and trust in from the start even as the threat landscape and regulatory landscape evolve. You will grow trusted partnerships with teams across Microsoft spanning EPSF, product teams, and more with the aim of building on each other, learning from each other, and maximizing impact together.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Program Manager Lead, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Strategic Vision: Develop and articulate clear a clear vision and roadmap for your team’s functions and scope including establishment of opportunities for automation.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Build and lead trusted partnerships across EPSF and with stakeholder teams with the aim of maintaining alignment and building on each other.

  • Industry Analysis: Identify emerging trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs, translating findings into actionable insights. 

  • Customer Insights: Gather and analyze stakeholder feedback to inform prioritization and plans.

  • Technical Understanding: Possess and grow a deep understanding of product development and of leading fundamentals e.g.security and compliance.

  • Project Management: Oversee the execution of division wide initiatives keeping stakeholders including executives informed.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate team focus, milestones, and updates to internal stakeholders, executive leadership, and external partners as needed. Align dependencies and hold stakeholders accountable to deliver their contributions.

  • Performance Tracking: Define objectives and key results (OKRs) to measure product success and track progress against goals, iterating and optimizing as necessary. 

  • Team Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to team members and collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster a culture of innovation and excellence. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years people management experience.

  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects in Product and/or Program Management for a range of products including platforms and services. 

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the security domain and with leading fundamentals.

  • 3+ years experience delivering products in highly-matrixed organization .

  • 2+ years experience of implementing security or compliance controls.

  • Demonstrated collaboration and partnership abilities, with a proven track record of driving results across teams .

  • Demonstrated experience developing product roadmaps to deliver customer and business value across products and services.

  • Demonstrated experience in successfully designing, delivering, and iterating on complex projects with a diverse set of stakeholders.

Technical Program Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $158,500 - $276,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,800 - $304,200 per year.
