Space Exploration Technologies Corp. Network Operations Technician (Starlink Network Operations Center) in Redmond, Washington

NETWORK OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN (STARLINK NETWORK OPERATIONS CENTER) As a Network Operations Technician, you will be directly responsible for operating the growing Starlink Network as we scale to millions of users around the globe. You will execute operational response to real-time network events and anomalies - mitigating their impact before significant service degradation occurs. You will facilitate incident response, engaging and supporting engineering teams to triage and resolve major issues. You will work with engineers across disciplines and external partners to ensure that all problems are root-caused and mitigated to prevent future recurrence. You will manage changes and maintenances required to improve and sustain service for users, while ensuring minimal network downtime. As an embedded operator within the NOC you will work with operations engineering to improve operational processes, increase operational efficiency, and maximize operational capabilities. RESPONSIBILITIES: Detect and triage emerging anomalies on satellites, ground stations, terrestrial network interop, terrestrial network interconnections, network co-location sites, and internet points of presences Provide centralized awareness and management of routine and emergency maintenance performed by SpaceX personnel and partner contractors Support individual customer and enterprise escalations Measure, preserve, and improve the uptime and performance of the Starlink Network Follow and improve processes used for managing the Starlink Network BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 1+ year of professional experience in a network, IT, or security setting including but not limited to a Network Operation Center (NOC), Security Operation Center (SOC), etc. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Ability to take on projects that require taking initiative and developing new expertise Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment that includes working with changing needs and requirements Experience in mission-critical operations where outstanding attention to detail is required to ensure success Certifications including Cisco, Juniper, CompTIA, or other industry certifications Familiarity with service provider and home networks technologies including but not limited to: Connectivity (Ethernet, WiFi, WDM, IPv4 and IPv6) Switching and Routing Internet services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, UPnP, NAT) Knowledge and troubleshooting about most common consumer devices (NAS, IoT, Smart devices) Experience with debugging complex systems with data analysis Basic software experience in Python, SQL, Bash or similar languages Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or science discipline ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be available for on-shift rotations This position requires working 7 PM - 7 AM; 3 days on, 4 days off; then 4 days on, 3 days off Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Pay range: Network Operations Technician/Level 1: $29.00/hour Network Operations Technician/Level 2: $31.50/hour Network Operations Technician/Level 3: $34.50/hour Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
